Lots of us are doing a little home refresh in the new year and I am definitely one of them. I have been putting off some home projects for awhile and it’s time to get some things done around here! First, I’m starting small with updating my fireplace mantle decor on a budget, of course.
I love our fireplace because of the stone work but it can also feel really dark and heavy with too much mantle decor so I decided to go for a minimalist look with a little farmhouse style thrown in there.
Here is the before pic before updating my mantle decor:
I wanted to liven up the space with some greenery but bring in some textural elements. I also wanted to keep the color palette very neutral to match the Amazon curtains and balance out the very colorful array of kid’s toys that usually clutters our floors. Oh and I need it all to be on a budget. Seems easy, right?
I started with the biggest focal item which was this Amazon mirror. I loved the shape and the height it gives to the room. Next I added a basket with a tall pillow to give some height to the bottom along with a blanket. Then, I added some greenery to both the top and bottom of the mantle. Lastly, I added a magazine rack with birch logs and some candlesticks on the top. Simple, clean and doesn’t break the bank!
